Get ready

Set yourself up for a good scan.

Download SureScan 3D Scanner and check the App Store listing for your device’s compatibility. Face scanning needs the TrueDepth camera; the ability to install the app alone does not confirm sensor support.

Saving and exporting may require a trial or subscription. Check the current terms in the app before you start.

Before you press Start

  • Choose even lighting, away from direct sunlight.
  • Keep hair away from your face and remove glasses.
  • Sit upright with a relaxed, neutral expression.
  • Set the scan resolution to 1 mm.

Capture

Keep still. Let the camera move.

Open SureScan and position the camera in front of your face. Use the app’s distance indicator, then move slowly and smoothly while keeping your head still.

  1. Start with the centre of your face and move from side to side.
  2. Capture the forehead, cheeks and chin from different angles, including the sides near your ears.
  3. Press Stop once the whole surface is covered.

Review & export

Check the shape. Save the detail.

Turn off the texture view and rotate the model to inspect the surface. Check the nose, forehead, cheeks and chin for holes, blurred patches or missing areas.

If a part is missing, try another scan before exporting. When you’re happy with the result, export the model in OBJ format.

If the export includes texture or material files, keep them together with the OBJ in a ZIP file.

Ready to send?

  • The full face is visible.
  • The surface is continuous, without large gaps.
  • The model is saved as an OBJ file.

Send your scan

Over to the workshop.
